Vintage "coral" beads from Bohemia
These large vintage glass beads were made in pre-war Bohemia. Made to imitate coral, they were traded to Northern India, the Himalayas, and Nepal where natural coral was, naturally, rather expensive.
The color is a light pinkish brick red with some beads having lighter or darker accents. All include a surface texturing of small shallow holes that imitate the surface perforations see in real coral. Because these handmade beads are over 60 years old some of them have small chips at the edges from natural wear.
These beads would look stunning in an Indian or Naga style necklace combined with amber and silver beads.
Average size 38 x 21 mm. Average weight 29 g.
Priced at $2.00 each.
